ISSUE AREAS

Children in the Bronx are lacking crucial programs and services in our schools such as social work and counseling services, curriculum that incorporates creative intelligence and the social and emotional well being of students.

Education

Our youth in District 12 deserve quality public school education. It is time to invest in our public schools, and provide quality resources. Our children deserve to feel safe, supported, and valued in school. New York State needs to provide more social workers in public schools, quality after-school programs, and quality resources.

Small Businesses

Minority owned small businesses have been impacted by COVID-19 drastically. Many businesses in the district have closed down and small businesses that are minority owned are at greater risk of closing. We need to act now to keep our small businesses open.

Affordable Housing

The cost of living is too high in District 12. We need to ensure we are not forcing families out of their communities. We need more affordable housing and rent stabilization. In addition we need a task force to monitor and ensure new rent stabilization laws are being followed.

Children & Families

As a licensed Master Social worker for the last decade, I have been fighting for safe families. I understand and comprehend the social, emotional, mental, and economic challenges families face met. We need to reform our foster-care system & reunify children & families.

OUR CHALLENGES

There is a gap that exists within what happens in City Hall and what happens in our communities in real time. I will bridge that gap and bring solutions to our community.

Rent Stabilization

We are at risk of losing over 16,000 affordable housing units in our District by 2022. The cost of living is too high and the average person can not afford rent. Together, we can preserve our affordable housing units and stop thousands from being displaced.

Unemployment

District 12 is ranked number 5 in unemployment in the entire city, yet we have no workforce centers in our district. Together, we can change this, by building a workforce center for all residents in the district to receive help with job attainment.

Small Businesses

COVID-19 has severely impacted small businesses in our district. These businesses bring revilization, culture and life to our district. Together, we can preserve our small businesses and fight for financial assistance to keep our small businesses open.
